Web designer needed for Dáil30
Tuesday, June 5th, 2007With the election now over and the 30th Dáil only days away from commencing, things over at Dáil30 are going to be picking up significantly.
At the moment the behind-the-scenes work is the central priority - it’s crucial that all 166 TDs are on board and committed as early as possible. But once there’s momentum in that area and the series itself begins, the website will become central to the project too, and a badly designed site is the last thing anyone wants to have to negotiate with.
At the moment the site is not very well designed, but it does the job as a simple blog. Once podcasts start going up, however, things will get inaccessible and confusing - on top of this half of the features I’d like to have in there are impossible to do within the current structure.
So with that I’m putting a plea out for a web designer to get the site from where it is now to where it aught to be. I have a few ideas on what I’m looking for, but I’m completely open to suggestions too. Everything you see on the site now, bar the logo, should be considered temporary.
Because I only know basic HTML I’m not even sure what kind of design techniques/processes would be needed to achieve what I want, but it’s safe to say that it will include the likes of CSS, Javascript etc.
Now, let me be clear from the outset - I’ve not got the money to pay for the work. Dáil30 does not have adverts, has no public/private funding or investment (all expense is coming from my own pocket at present) and will be free to download/listen to - put simply this is not a business and it doesn’t have a budget.
What involvement in the site does offer is plenty of kudos here and on Dáil30, plenty of link-love and full accreditation on the site itself, which I expect to get quite busy over the next year and beyond.
If that’s not for you, that’s fine - I can understand that. If you’re not bothered by the lack of a pay-cheque and think you can help out, however, please get it touch. You can comment here, send me a mail or give me a ring (contact details on the Contacts page).
Many thanks.
